If you live in the State of Arizona, it’s safe to say you’re familiar with the issue of drug trafficking through our southern border. A staggering 1,039,442.69 pounds of marijuana was confiscated at theTuscon Sector of the Mexican border in 2011. At that time, the Arizona Medical Marijuana program was just being implemented. Four years later, in 2015, when the Medical Marijuana program was up and running, 746,868 pounds of marijuana was confiscated. That is a 28 percent drop in the volume caught crossing our border.
As marijuana is the most lucrative substance sold by illegal drug cartels, regulation of the sale of medical marijuana in Arizona is applying pressure on them like never before and less is being trafficked into our country. If we really want to put illegal drug cartels out of business, we need everyone to vote ‘yes’ on Prop 205. The State needs to regulate marijuana like alcohol and cut cartels’ most lucrative lifeline once and for all.
Whether you like it or not, money is being spent on marijuana in the State of Arizona. Wouldn’t you rather take it from illegal drug cartels and use the tax revenue to support our schools?
