As November 8th approaches more and more public entities are announcing their stance for, or against, the Proposition to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol. One of those entities includes the Arizona Democratic Party, who has publicly announced their support for Prop 205. Democratic Chairman Alexis Tameron explained why his party is in favor of the initiative with this public statement,
Regulating marijuana like alcohol will enhance public safety, promote social justice, and improve our education system by raising much-needed revenue for schools. These values are shared by Arizonans of all political persuasions, and it is my hope that they will vote ‘yes’ on Prop. 205.
Other public figures endorsing the proposition include; Arizona State Representatives Raul Grijalva and Ruben Gallego; Several state legislators; The Arizona Liberty Caucus; and Arizona Libertarian Party Chairman Michael Kielsky.
Although public favor from these figures greatly helps in the effort to gain more support, the opposition is also gaining favor from entities such as the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Insys, a company currently under investigation for their questionable marketing tactics of the opiate-based drug fentanyl. Many of their new supporters are also contributing large sums of money to the opposition resulting in a big push of public propaganda through advertising.
We understand that those in favor of legalization are informed enough to know that these anti-legalization advertisements are promoting false information. That is why it is so important for you to spread your knowledge to those who are more susceptible to misleading propaganda.
