Dr. Oz Endorses Cannabis as a solution to solve the Opioid Epidemic

One of the country’s most famous television physicians took to Fox News Tuesday morning to give a statement regarding the hypocrisy surrounding medical marijuana. Many opponents against legalizing marijuana have claimed that it is a “gateway drug”, but Dr. Oz thinks it’s the other way around.  Oz states, “People think it’s a gateway drug to narcotics. It may be the exit drug to get us out of the narcotic epidemic”. Dr. Oz also criticized the scheduling of marijuana as a Schedule 1 drug, “We’re not allowed to study it because it’s a Schedule I drug, and I personally believe it could help”. There are currently 29 states that have legalized medical marijuana while 8 states have managed to legalize on a recreational level. The majority of the American population is now in favor of medical and recreational marijuana. With more than 52,000 people dying a year from opioid overdoses, it is time to look at  practical alternatives such as marijuana.
