Recreational Marijuana Initiative Reaches 200,000 Signatures

The Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol has collected over 200,000 signatures two months prior to the deadline! As most of you are aware, the requirement for valid signatures is 150,000 and the campaign hopes to obtain 230,000 for good measure by June, a number which the campaign believes is attainable at this point. Our very own J.P. Holyoak, chairman of the campaign, explained what reaching this milestone meant saying, “Arizonans think it’s time for a more sensible approach [over failed prohibition], and that’s exactly what we’re proposing.” Passing this Initiative would implement a program where adults 21 and older could posses up to 1 ounce and grow up to six plants in their homes. A fifteen percent marijuana tax would be implemented on retail sales with proceeds going to fund Arizona’s public education system and program implementation.
